Marketing positioning: Be seen as the expert and authority

When deciding on your marketing positioning strategy there really isn't any decision to make.

Because whatever business you're in you want to be seen as the expert. The authority in the market. The person everyone else looks to for answers.

But what's that I hear you say? (well it was either you or the voices in my head...)

You're not qualified to be the expert? No one has come down and waved their magic wand to proclaim to all the land that you are the expert in your industry? Doesn't matter.

If you want to be the expert you just have to step up and claim it. Of course you have to be able to back it up with knowledge but we're all an expert in something.

    1. Built up a blog by giving away valuable advice for free
    2. Repackaged his content into a book
    3. Asked his blog readers which chapter they wanted for free
    4. Provided them with what they asked for
    5. Thereby turning them into advocates to popularise the upcoming release of his book for him by encouraging them to give away the chapter they asked for

    Genius!

    Well Dean has already created products before this (he has a monthly membership site for example) but that’s the process he used to create those.

    First he created a huge following online using his buzz tactics and then worked out what they’d be interested in buying… (Sound familiar to anyone who has done the free 2nd module of the 12 Hour Sales Booster?)

    And he also gives away a lot of stuff for free to create buzz in his market. Like this book for example. It’ll be interesting how the launch rolls out as if I know Dean he won’t simply “sell the book” straight up.

    Also – for the record – Dean is one of the few people I know personally who actually does 6 figures online (although many claim it)… and he’s doing it in pounds as well. The best part is he isn’t afraid to share his “secrets” and is well worth following. He’s definitely the real deal.
