Improving Your
Website Conversion Rate Overnight

Website conversion rate graph going up
Sales going this way is good!

Optimizing your website conversion rate is one of the most important things you can do for your website. While most website marketing advice comes in the form of getting more traffic… your website is missing out on big money with a poor conversion rate.

Most business owners don't put much thought into how they will convert website visitors into buyers and that's where the problem starts. A website is created based on the advice of web designers who have no idea how to sell your company's products and services. They also have little experience selling anything online.

So What Increases Your Website Conversion Rate?

We're going to apply some sales and marketing knowledge to your website that will increase its results very quickly. Providing you already have at least some traffic these techniques will give you a nice sales bump right away. So let's get started.

First we must understand the three reasons people won't buy from you:

  1. They don't want what you're selling
  2. They can't afford it
  3. They don't trust you

What These Reasons Mean To Your Business

Now you're wasting your time and energy if you focus on the first category so let's look at the last two. When we talk about people not being able to afford what you sell it's a little bit misleading. Unless your market is in complete poverty then most of the time they can afford what you're selling.

The difference is how much desire they have for your product. For example a committed golfer will spend thousands of dollars on golfing equipment but might consider a $30 book on internet marketing a waste of money. Part of your job looking at your conversion rate is effectively stirring that desire in prospects.

Why Most People Think You're A Liar

The final part of the puzzle is creating a feeling of trust in your website visitors. There is no way they're going to buy anything from you unless they trust you to deliver on your promises. And a visit to your website has to achieve that level of trust in a very short period of time.

Because if a visitor wants what you're selling and the money available yet doesn't buy... it's because they don't believe what you're saying. And fair enough since consumers have millions of marketing messages screaming at them every day. Why should they trust you?

Increase Your Trust And Increase Your Sales

By building trust with website visitors you can increase your conversion rate and the sales from your website. When visitors trust your advice and recommendations they're much more likely to take the actions you desire. So how do we build trust?

Provide useful information

You can build trust with website visitors by providing useful information on your website. Not only does this show that you know what you're talking about but it also increases the time a visitor can spend on your site. And the more time they stay the more likely they will trust you.

Have testimonials from satisfied clients

Showing other people have bought and liked your products and services is an obvious way to build trust yet so many websites don't do it. By simply listing testimonials you can make your website visitors feel much better about your business. Just make sure the testimonials are real and believable as well.

Provide contact details

Showing your business has a real location and isn't just a website floating in cyberspace also increases trust. Visitors want to know they can call or even visit your premises if something goes wrong. Note that a PO Box doesn't have the same effect as a street address.

Offer a free trial

If you can provide a free trial of your products or services then you are taking away the risk from your visitors. We call this risk reversal and it's a very important part of the selling process. So think about what how you can offer some kind of trial.

Create a relationship through email

Collecting the visitors email address and sending them useful information gives you further opportunity to build a relationship and develop trust. You're much more likely to get a sale if you can continue to email your visitors rather than immediately going for the sale. This is why most websites offer an email newsletter or similar.

This is why I offer my free email newsletter. So I can continue to give you value and allow you to make an informed decision about what I have to offer. My goal is you increase your website conversion rate and sales from my free information because then you're much more likely to trust my paid services.
